Introduction
Ritz-Carlton is a five star hotel and it's owned by Marriott International Inc., Bethesda, Maryland. Marriott International Company has chain hotels around the world. Ritz-Carlton is one of the best hotels in Tokyo. They start to build the hotel in 2007 with partner developer Mitsui Fudosan Company for building the skyscraper. The hotel consists of nine floors in the top skyscraper and it includes 250 guest rooms and deluxe health club.
The beginning of Ritz-Carlton
Hotel chain Ritz-Carlton owned by Marriott International Inc., Bethesda, Maryland wanted open a hotel in Tokyo many years ago. But they didn’t find the good place for that because the regulations on building height restricted the development of skyscrapers also because of the High land prices.
In spring 2007 they find the place for that in the swankiest hotel-and-apartments complex in the city. They did that with the partner developer Mitsui Fudosan Company for building the skyscraper, says Ricco DeBlank, the general manager of the Ritz-Carlton's Tokyo hotel. “Now, "finally we have the right location, the right partner and the right timing to do that” (Hotels & motels 2006). They started the work very fast to get the hotel ready but Mr. DeBlank said: “We were having some reservations especially for the opening date of March 28 and we were used the old system because the hotel hasn't installed its computerized reservation system yet” (Hotels & motels 2006).
Line of business
The first step of the plan was the Choose a location of the hotel in the skyscraper. They decided to be in the top nine floors of a 54-story building and the hotel will have 250 guest rooms, restaurants area, and deluxe health club. As well as a glass-walled lobby looking out at Mount Fuji. Mission Impossible was on the opening day because they were looking for something symbolizes a change sweeping in the hotel industry to show that hotel is different from the others
Stages growth
Adopted Ritz-Carlton in the Stages growth on based on the external benchmarking with companies and they put special criteria for that. Also they focus on Improve workforce because it is important for any organization. On this basis has been created camps to find atmosphere that encourages innovations and enabled working to produce unique experiences for their customers. They start to development growth by do some of detailed analysis and get some recommendations from employee engagement. The management of Ritz Carlton Proved that employee engagement to make the decision is helpful for the growth.
Strategy of Ritz Carlton and objectives
Competition in hotel industry is very difficult and it needs to achieve sustainable. To development Ritz Carlton they tracking policy the constant improvement and focus on consumers' behavior. Also the management tries to promote employee engagement and stimulating their ideas to get new ideas. Also they are trying to introduction of new brands. Because many of Tokyo's swish new developments also feature new, hotel groups owned by foreign, Hotel chain Ritz-Carlton want to become one of the best in the city. Also there are many hotel have over in the competition like some of Japan's older hotels are trying to fight back. All these reasons push the company to work in strong strategic and specific objectives. the Hotel chain Ritz-Carlton were want to be more hotel visit by tourists in Tokyo and the first choose for them.
Important management issues
There were a lot of issues that interface the management. But most important issue was the High land prices and find good place for the hotel because the regulations on building height restricted the development of skyscrapers. But they solved the problem by choosing the best place from many places. Also there were some reservations especially used the old system because the hotel hasn't installed its computerized reservation system at the beginning. But today there are many different kinds of technologies in the hotel used to improve customer service. Also there was a problem workforce improve at the beginning because they want good quality of services. But the management resolved that by Give the staff some training to improve their skills.
Conclusion
Ritz-Carlton is a good hotel and there is professional management. Director of Administration are friendly and democratic. He preferred employee engagement to make the decision and give them space to present their ideas. The idea of work in Ritz-Carlton is not very bad and it will give me a good experience but it is strange. Also we have to know that the work in the hotel industry is not easy, but it have many benefits. So i would like to try this kind of work because it will improve my skills. At the same time this job will teach me how to be patience because I will work with many different people and customers.
